The China-ASEAN Innovation Quest 2025

The China-ASEAN Innovation Quest 2025 reflects the spirit of ASEAN-China collaboration in science, technology and innovation, where young minds are shaping a greener, more forward-looking future for our region, shared Mr Lee Chee Peng, Senior Principal Assistant Secretary at MOSTI and Chair of ASEAN COSTI Malaysia.
Sunway iLabs at Sunway University was honoured to host the ASEAN Finals of the China–ASEAN Innovation Quest (CAIQ) 2025 – a regional innovation platform empowering youth from ASEAN and China to co-create solutions aligned with the UN-SDGs, while strengthening cross-border collaboration.

Over three days, 40 young innovators and 12 mentors across 14 finalist teams from six ASEAN countries experienced how ideas transform into real-world impact - right here in Sunway City, Malaysia’s very own dynamic living lab for sustainability and innovation.
This was more than a competition. It was science diplomacy in action - where collaboration, innovation and purpose converged to build solutions that can scale across the region.
The Top 6 teams will now represent ASEAN at the Grand Finale in Nanning, China, joining the top teams from China to showcase the region’s brightest solutions.

To our partners, a huge thank you for lending your expertise, time and belief in nurturing the next generation of innovators. You didn’t just teach, but you inspired, challenged, and strengthened ideas into something real and resilient.
The CAIQ 2025 ASEAN Finals was co-organised by Sunway University, Sunway iLabs, the ASEAN Young Scientists Network (ASEAN YSN), the China Association for International Science and Technology Cooperation (CAISTC), and Guilin University of Electronic Technology (GUET), with the strong support of the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation (MOSTI), Malaysia, and the ASEAN Committee on Science, Technology and Innovation (COSTI).
