Sunway University: Rock the Goals 2025

Sunway University proudly hosted Rock the Goals 2025, a landmark celebration to mark the 10th anniversary of the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The event gathered nearly 1,500 members of the Sunway community alongside distinguished guests from the United Nations, UNICEF, the European Union, the World Health Organization, and ambassadors representing multiple nations.
The celebration reflected Sunway’s commitment as a “Campus with a Conscience”, blending creativity, inclusivity and advocacy to inspire action towards a more sustainable future.
The evening featured high-energy performances by Malaysian artistes Zimi’J, Uriah See, and DJ Blink, who lit up the stage and brought the audience together in a shared spirit of unity.
Another highlight was the Adaptive Fashion Show, where Sunway Fashion Design and Technology students presented punk rock-inspired collections. Modelled by individuals from diverse backgrounds, the showcase embodied inclusivity and sustainable design, proving how fashion can be a platform for empowerment and social impact.
Adding to the celebration were messages of encouragement from international leaders and organisations. Chef Gordon Ramsay applauded Sunway’s efforts, declaring: “Sunway, you really are a ‘Campus With A Conscience’.”
United Nations Malaysia Resident Coordinator Robert Gass delivered an impassioned message to students: “These goals need more than governments and the United Nations; they need your ideas, your courage and your action. Every action, big or small, brings us closer to the world we want. Together, we can achieve the SDGs — let’s keep rocking the goals.”
Sunway University President, Professor Sibrandes Poppema, affirmed the University’s commitment to sustainability and inclusivity: “The energy and passion of our students and community reflect Sunway’s mission to nurture a generation ready to achieve the SDGs. Rock the Goals 2025 shows how education can inspire both awareness and action.”
By hosting Rock the Goals 2025, Sunway University underscored Malaysia’s growing leadership in the global sustainability movement. The celebration amplified Sunway’s belief that education, creativity, and community action are vital to achieving the SDGs — and to shaping a better world for all.
