Sunway College fashion graduates showcase VERTEX at the Zeekr Space in Bandar Sunway

SIXTEEN emerging fashion designers from Sunway College showcased 80 looks at VERTEX, their graduation fashion show held at the Zeekr Space in Bandar Sunway.

The showcase by students from the college’s Diploma in Fashion Design Technology programme was organised in collaboration with STYLO and Zeekr Malaysia, bringing together fashion, technology and automotive innovation.

Following last year’s showcase at the McLaren Kuala Lumpur showroom, the latest edition continued the collaboration with Zeekr Malaysia, with the automotive brand’s showroom providing a distinctive backdrop for the graduating designers to present their collections.

Themed VERTEX, the show symbolised the peak of creativity, innovation and achievement as the students embarked on their careers in the fashion industry.

The event attracted figures from Malaysia’s fashion and creative sectors, including Stylo International president and chief executive officer Dato’ Nancy Yeoh, Mrs Malaysia Universe 2025 champion Vivian Tan, representatives from local fashion brands, global modelling agencies, fashion and jewellery designers, LVMH Malaysia, Parkson and the Malaysia Official Designers Association (MODA).

Sunway Marketing automotive division head Marcus Chye said the collaboration reflected the spirit of experimentation and innovation shared by the automotive and fashion industries.

“There is always a moment when imagination becomes reality, and what makes this showcase truly exciting is seeing these young designers take that first step,” he said.

“We are delighted that Zeekr Sunway could be part of this moment of experimentation and discovery, reflecting the same spirit that drives us.”

Augustine Wong, director of the Fashion Design Technology Studies programme, said the showcase reflected the students’ dedication and the guidance provided by their lecturers.

“Behind every collection is a journey of ideas, challenges and countless hours of work. Seeing our students bring their creative visions to life on the runway is incredibly rewarding and a testament to their dedication and the guidance of our lecturers,” he said.

Several students were also recognised for their work.

Adriana Aiman received the Best Student Award, while Bryan Kow Zhe Hao won the Most Promising Fashion Designer Award for his collection, bbbyyan.

Lee Xue Qi’s Bugs and Friends received the Zeekr Innovation Fashion Award 2026, while Trinity Tan Xue Nie won the Sir Jeffrey Cheah Fashion Award for her collection, Of Daisies and Daydream.

Tan’s collection explored the way memories evolve over time, incorporating changing colours, textures and emotions while retaining classic silhouettes.

“I would love to be remembered as a designer who tells stories that resonate with people,” she said.

“For my collection, I explored colours and textures while staying true to classic silhouettes that people know and love. Receiving this award reassured me that I am on the right path and inspired me to keep working hard, challenging myself and pushing my creativity further.”

The showcase highlighted the growing pool of young Malaysian fashion talent, with the graduating designers presenting contemporary ideas while exploring the intersection of technology, craftsmanship and design.
