Sunway University Young Chef Scholarship

Participating Programme

  • Diploma in Culinary
    with progression to BSc (Hons) in Culinary Management

Eligibility Criteria

1. Applicant must be between 17 to 25 years old

2. Applicant can be a Malaysian or an International citizen

3. Applicant must not have gone through any formal culinary courses

4. Applicant must meet the minimum entry requirement of the Diploma in Culinary Arts programme:-

  • SPM/ SPMV/ O-Level: Pass with minimum 3 credits
  • UEC: Pass with minimum 3 Grade Bs
  • English Language Requirement: Sunway Intensive English Programme (IEP) Level 3 or IELTS 5.0 or equivalent
  • Other qualifications: any other qualifications will be considered on a case-to-case basis

1. Full tuition fees

2. General fees (excluding Refundable Deposit)

Shortlisting Criteria

1. The shortlisting for the Sunway University Young Chef Cook-Off shall be based on the submission of essay below:-

  • Title: “Why should I be selected as a Sunway University Young Chef?” (200 words or less)
  • The essay must be submitted together with the Scholarship Application Form

2. All shortlisted applicants must attend the Young Chef Cook-Off session assessed by a Panel of Judges from Sunway University consisting of Winning Chefs from Team Malaysia’s Coupe du Monde de la Patisserie 2019 and Sunway Scholarship Committee

Documents Required

1. Scholarship Application Form

2. Attach the certified true copy documents in the following order:-

  • SPM/ SPMV/ O-Level/ UEC certificates or equivalent
  • Identity Card/Passport
  • All results obtained inschool/ college including latest results
  • School leaving certificates and testimonials

3. Essay with the title “Why should I be selected as a Sunway University Young Chef?” (200 words or less)

Application Procedure

1. Scholarship Applicant Form can be obtained from:

  • Student LIFE
  • Admission Office
  • Sunway University/ Sunway College Scholarship Website

2. Prepare the supporting documents (original and photocopy) for verification purpose

3. Submit the Scholarship Application Form along with supporting documents to Student LIFE within the stipulated deadline (refer to Scholarship Calendar)

4. Young Chef Cook-Off will take place in March (for February deadline) & July (for June deadline).

5. Only applicants shortlisted for the Cook-Off session will be informed via a phone call followed by an e-mail by early of March (for February deadline) & early July (for June deadline)

6. Applicants that are not shortlisted will receive an e-mail communication
