A Legacy of Giving

We were honoured to welcome Tan Sri Dato’ Sri Dr Jeffrey Cheah as the Guest of Honour, alongside Professor Dato' Elizabeth Lee, Professor Sibrandes Poppema, Professor Teo Ee Sing, and Professor Abhimanyu Veerakumarasivam at the event.

The first ever “Giving Sunwayian Award” was also presented to Leong Chee Keong, Chow Shenn Kuan, and Steven Chang, who have gone above and beyond in their philanthropic efforts...

Sunway University Press Books Represent Malaysia on a Global Stage
Sunway University Press has reached an important milestone by having three books represent Malaysia at the Frankfurt Book Fair 2022, the world’s largest and most important trade fair for books.

The books were selected by the National Book Council of Malaysia, Ministry of Education as part of the 50 Best Malaysian Titles for International Rights 2021/2022 initiative...

Ministry of Education, Seychelles – Special Visit To Sunway University
International Office hosted an official visit from the Ministry of Education in Seychelles on 14th December 2022. The Minister of Education, Dr Justin Valentin alongside the CEO from the ANHRD Scholarship Department, Mrs Nadia Lauricort and Mrs Diane Marie was welcomed to Sunway University by Prof Sibrandes Poppema, Prof Mahendren and Prof Abhimanyu.

The discussion between Sunway University and the Ministry involves exploring the Postgraduate programmes for Seychellois scholars and the possibility to collaborate in research between Sunway University and Seychelles government in various areas especially in Coastal community...

Winning the “People’s choice award” at the Annual Society for Neuroscience Meeting, Singapore Chapter
Congratulations to Aleya A Marzuki, PhD and the team from Sunway University’s Ageing, Health and Well-being center for winning the “People’s choice award” at the annual Society for Neuroscience meeting, Singapore chapter. Department of Computing and Information Systems, School of Engineering and Technology is proud to announce that our Doctor of Philosophy in Computing student “Zahida Sharif” and her supervisors Dr Muhammed Basheer Jasser, Prof. Angela Amphawan, Prof. Yau Kok Lim won the Best Paper Award for her research paper titled "Towards Latency Aware Multi-joint Optimization Method for VNF Placement and SFC Routing Via Swarm Intelligence" at 12th IEEE International Conference on Control System, Computing and Engineering (ICCSCE2022) organized by IEEE Control System Society Malaysia Chapter held at Penang, Malaysia during 21 – 22 October 2022 with more than 40 papers from authors from different countries... ›
Center for American Education’s (CAE) Thanksgiving Exhibition and Fall Awards Ceremony
This year, Sunway University’s American Degree Transfer Program (ADTP/CAE) had a great opportunity to host a Thanksgiving Students’ Showcases followed by the CAE Fall Awards Ceremony.

For the Thanksgiving Students’ Showcases, ADTP students from the different subjects set up a variety of booths that had games, exhibition, hands-on activities, posters, etc. in line with the Thanksgiving theme.

For the Awards ceremony, we celebrated the achievement of students who have completed the first half of their degree at Sunway University and are transferring in Spring 2023 to various U.S. universities such as the University of Wisconsin-Madison, San Jose State University (California), Hunter College (New York City), California State University-Chico, Wichita State University (Kansas), University of Cincinnati (Ohio), Western Michigan University, and others. Some students are also transferring to the University of Manitoba (Canada), Australia (University of South Australia and Victoria University) and the University of Canterbury (New Zealand). Some students such as Khoo Wei Shen (Chancellor’s Non-Resident Award of USD$12,000), Wong Yong Shen (USD$8000), Jasmine Lim Smith (International Outreach Scholarship of USD$5000) and others were awarded scholarships from their respective American and Australian universities...
