List of Services

Individual Counselling

Counselling is offered in areas such as relationship, family issues, academic challenges, stress and anxiety, emotional issues and adjustment to campus life. In the counselling session, you can expect someone who is interested in listening to your concerns and in helping you develop a better understanding so that you can deal with issues more effectively. All cases are treated with strict confidentiality. We welcome you to come to Student Services Department to enquire and arrange for an appointment with our friendly counsellors.

Group Counselling

In group counselling, small group of 6-10 students meet face-to-face with one or more trained facilitator and talk about a particular topic. The content of the group sessions is confidential. We offer a number of theme-focused and growth enhancing groups in areas involving self-worth, personal development, relationship building, communication with family, anger, stress management, grief and bereavement, etc.

E-counselling

You  face challenges during your studies here and need counselling but you prefer to connect with us from the comfort of your privacy, you may use our e-counselling services at counselling@sunway.edu.my. Our counsellors will respond to you and provide you with further assistance.

Workshops and Talks

To equip you and further enhance your overall well being, we offer relevant workshops and talks on youth related issues, managing challenges in  the university, stress management, cultural adaptation and personal development.

Peer Counselling Volunteers Training

If you are interested in becoming a Peer Counselling Volunteer and gain some skills on how to help your fellow peers with their challenges, come and join the Peer Counselling Volunteers Team. Team members will be trained by our counsellors – you will have the opportunity to attend various trainings, workshops and events that will help you develop the skills you need to become an effective peer counsellor.

Counselling Awareness Programme

Counselling Awareness Programme aims to help you recognise the importance of counselling services and increase awareness on the importance of psychological and emotional needs. Programmes include talks, forum, exhibition, and other thought-provoking activities are organised.

Connections Newsletter

You can obtain the latest copy of the counselling newsletter, 'Connections' from Student Services Department to read interesting write-ups and also be updated on the upcoming activities organised by the Counselling Unit.

Counselling Resources

Come to us and you will be able to get some self-help tips, topical reading materials, and other referral information. We have our own resource corner for you in Student Services Department. You can find helpful and useful information related to counselling, personal development and growth.
