Success...

What is success? Success, to me, means to achieve your dreams. Everybody wants to be a success. Everybody wants to be successful in life. Well, including me.

When I was young, my parents made me think that being a doctor, police, firefighter and lawyer. I chose to be a ‘nothing’ that time. Well, doctors and lawyers need to study hard, police need to be brave, firefighter need to be a man (I was just 8 years old!). A ‘nothing’ sounds nice at that time.

At the age of 11, I was inspired by a friend of mine to explore the world of fashion. It was and is still a pretty world. I wanted something different from jobs I have heard. Fashion designing was the answer. My parents do not agree with my interest. Plus, I suck at drawing!

Slowly, I come to realize that my drawing cannot improve. By doing so, I realize another thing I always focus on the jewellery part on the drawings. Since, I do a lot of beading. It would be much better than fashion designing. Jewellery designing is different and it is something I love. I have so many jewelleries, I bought a lot of necklaces, bracelets, rings and earrings but I never wear some of them once. You can say I am obsessed with them. It is okay if it is a healthy obsession. It is not like I go around buying every single piece of jewellery I see and spending all my money like there is no tomorrow.

Up until now, my focus has not change. I might hesitate as I cannot draw very well and my parents disagree again. They say that to be successful some famous celebrity have to buy my jewellery. That is true. This is not going to stop me. I can bead. I am much better in handicraft than drawing. I have other talents most people do not.

I went for Girl Power Camp at Sunway University. There was an inspiring talk called ‘The Glass Ceiling’ by Faye. Girl can only exceed until a certain extend until a glass ceiling. Anyway I do not need to listen about that part since it is true but we can break through the glass ceiling. I think I can and I will!

To actually fulfill my dreams, I have to go through secondary school. This year I want to go to manicure classes with my friend, Joh. Yes, I am also interested in manicures, nail art and the newest one, makeup. Although the lessons are pricey, I am going to go learn! Unless my parents stop me.

By getting a certificate for manicure and nail art, I can work as a manicurist/nail artist and earn RM3000+ per month (this information from Joh, if wrong, blame her). It should be able to fund me to study in college. Raffles Institute of Design (Kuala Lumpur) is my goal right now. It is near and it has a jewellery designing course! The first college I come across that offers jewellery designing! But it is a diploma and not a degree. My parent would not agree…again.

Never mind that, I have 2 more years to persuade them and to think about it. When I finish my course, I will create my own brand. I do not know how but I will. I want the whole Malaysia to know me! “Blue Rose” will definitely be known in the future. Are you curious about the name? Blue is a calming colour. Rose is a beautiful flower even though covered by thorns, no matter what it is still gets noticed. My concept is making woman bring out their beauty more. Perfect jewellery can make someone stand out. I will start small like all people and work my way up! I will own a shop and start from scratch. I will earn the money from being a manicurist/nail artist. Later, my own line! And maybe be known worldwide!

For now, my dreams as a jewellery designer will stay a dream. My success nears me but yet a long journey ahead. Obstacles to face, decisions to make, but for now, think it through, enjoy life while we work our way up. Although success is important, life is too short to not enjoy. I will enjoy the path to success and have fun going through. Nobody said that it was going to be easy, everything starts with the first step. My first step: winning this blogging contest.
