Reimbursement
To reimburse you for your time and effort, you will receive compensation.
If you are travelling we will be able to compensate you and your cost of parking during experiment sessions. If you do not have transportation, we may be able to help.
Additionally, your child will receive an infant t-shirt and an optional developmental assessment.
The developmental assessment/ test is assesses whether your child’s development in the following areas are within the average range:
| Area assessed | What it means |
|---|---|
| Gross motor | Measures how a child uses arms and legs for movement and coordination (i.e. sitting, crawling, standing, walking, etc) |
| Fine motor | Measures how a child uses hands and fingers to manipulate objects (i.e. picking things up, transferring objects). |
| Receptive language | Measures what the child understands. |
| Expressive language | Measures what the child can say/ how he expresses himself. |
| Visual Reception | Measures the child’s ability to discriminate visual patterns and problem solving tasks. |
All sessions will be videotaped. The videotaped data will be coded and analysed by the research staff. The videotapes, personal information and record of participation will be kept confidential to the extent permitted by law.
The analyses will focus on statistical trends that characterise groups of children (for example, girls compared to boys; different age groups of the children), and not on individual children or mothers.
