School of Computer Technology
This School offers a Diploma in Information Technology, Bachelor degrees in Information Technology and Information Systems, Master of Science in Computer Science (by Research) and Doctor of Philosophy (Computing).
The Diploma in Information Technology gives students a foundation to develop into programmers good in programming and designing of Computer Systems to meet the needs of the industry. On completion of this course, students can choose to pursue a degree whereby they are offered advanced entry into Year 2 of the Information Technology degree programme in Sunway University, subject to meeting entry requirements.
The Degree courses are validated by the distinguished Lancaster University, UK where students who successfully complete their courses will be recognised as graduates of both Sunway University and Lancaster University, UK. Both degree courses include a 4-month industrial training stint.
Students who choose to major in Information Systems are trained in business and project management, cyber law and E-Commerce. Elective subjects can be selected in either E-Business or Enterprise Resource Planning. Students who select electives in E-Business enhance their knowledge in accounting, customer relationship management and systems analysis; while Enterprise Resource Planning electives provide an in-depth look in business intelligence systems and business reengineering processes.
The Degree programme in Information Technology encompasses a strong foundation in systems analysis and development, and encourages students to develop soft skills and critical thinking skills. Electives are selected from the area of Computer Science or Networking. Subjects in Computer Science include various programming languages and mathematical principles, while students who take up subjects in Networking acquire additional skills in network development, hardware configuration and network troubleshooting.
The Master of Science in Computer Science is specially designed for those wishing to enhance their knowledge and skills in the field of Computer Science and for career development in research-based organisations. Candidates may opt to pursue this programme either on a full-time or part-time basis, allowing the flexibility of combining work and study.
The Doctor of Philosophy (Computing) programme aims to develop leaders and innovators in the area of computing and ICT. The programme will steel graduates with the ability to apply advanced knowledge and skills, to deal with the computing and ICT needs of organisations and society in a professional and ethical manner.
