Sunway’s Foundation in Arts (FIA) pre- university programme recently produced 119 graduates. Gerald Tan Lye Sern, the top student for FIA scored 90% grade average and received a full scholarship to continue pursuing his undergraduate studies in Sunway University under the Tan Sri Dato’ Seri Dr Jeffrey Cheah Continuing Scholarship. Tan Wei Chun, Goh Zi Dong and Khoo JunHao were the other high scorers who graduated with a score of 90% grade average and given a scholarship each.
“The most gratifying moment of our teaching profession is when we witness a group of young people completing their academic year after all the hard work and perseverance they put in”, said Ms Elizabeth Lee, Executive Director of Sunway University during the AUSMAT Awards Night. Three of Sunway’s Pre-University programmes commemorated the success and accomplishments of their graduating students from Australian Matriculation (AUSMAT), Foundation in Arts (FIA) and Monash University Foundation Year (MUFY) recently.
The pioneer intake of the 66 students in the Foundation in Arts (FIA) pre-university programme at Sunway took their first steps in December last year as proud bearers of the Foundation in Arts certificates. The FIA is the academic stepping stone to Sunway’s own honours degree programmes validated by Lancaster University.
The Sunway-developed FIA programme lays a strong academic foundation in literacy and numeracy enhanced by enrichment subjects that broaden a student’s understanding of the world.
