Recently, three Diploma in Hotel Management (DHM) students, Lee Han Ying, Queeny Cheong and Sia Lee Chin from Sunway University visited France with their lecturer cum head chef Patrick Siau, who was the Team Captain of Team Malaysia representing Malaysia in the World Pastry Cup 2011 competition in Lyon in January 2011.

Chef Patrick makes it to the World Cup

Head Chef (and lecturer) Patrick Siau from Sunway University College was in the team that clinched 2nd Runner-Up at the Asian Pastry Cup 2010 held in conjunction with the Food & Hotel Asia Culinary Challenge (FHA CC) 2010 in Singapore recently.

The biannual Asian Pastry Cup 2010 is also the official competition in which the best four teams are selected to compete at the World Pastry Cup. The next one will be in Lyon, France in January next year.

Keeping on par

Five Sunway academic staff are keeping on par with their colleagues in the United Kingdom.

They received their Certificate in Academic Practice (CAP) Module One, which makes them eligible to become Associate Fellows of Higher Education Academy in the U.K.

According to Dr Tony Luxon, who presented the certificates, it was an impressive achievement considering that the staff achieved this while teaching and carrying out research, simultaneously.

Dr Anindita Dasgupta, a senior lecturer with the American Degree Transfer Programme at Sunway University College has been awarded the Asian Scholarship Fund (ASF) Collaborative Works Grant funded by the Ford Foundation and administered by the Asian Scholarship Foundation in Thailand.
