Bumper Crop on Dean’s List

Bumper Crop on Dean’s List39 students from the Sunway University College American Degree Transfer Program found themselves on the Dean’s List recently which hailed students who achieved a GPA of 3.5 to 4.0 in the August to December 2008 semester.

9 students achieved an almost perfect GPA of 3.9 to 4.0 (Summa Cum Laude). The program which has been offered at Sunway University College since 1987 provides two years of study before students transfer their credits to US universities to continue for another two years towards an American degree.

Out of the 39, most will be transferring to Western Michigan University, Sunway’s twinning partner of 21 years while a good number of students are choosing to transfer to other universities in the U.S or Canada. Among the universities are Purdue University, University of Michigan, Ann Arbor; Indiana University and Drake University in the U.S as well as University of Waterloo, University of Alberta and McGill University in Canada.

Kesvick Tan, who had a GPA of 3.96, is planning to transfer to University of Michigan in the winter of 2009 to read aeronautical engineering. Kesvick said “The experience of studying in the ADTP at Sunway has helped me to be consistent as every test counts toward the final score and one cannot afford to slack. It was a love-hate situation but I was glad to overcome it”

Ms Cathleen Fuller, Manager International Degree and Articulation Partnerships, Western Michigan University gave away the certificates.
