The University of Cambridge International Examinations (CIE) hailed students who achieved “Top in the World” and “Top in Malaysia” placings from their June 2008 Cambridge examinations.
Sunway University College (Sunway) once again revealed high achieving students who had astounding results. Yeo Jun Hau was awarded second placing in the world in the “Best across Three A-Level Subjects” and he was also “Top in Malaysia for Mathematics at A-Level”.
Yeow Xinyan and Nurul Azeem Bte Abd. Jamil were both awarded, “Top in the World Mathematics AS Level”. Nurul Azeem is a Petronas Scholar doing the Arts combination. Xinyan is in the accelerated one-year Cambridge A-Level programme. Most of the students of the January 2008 class of the accelerated one year programme made highly commendable achievements as 64% scored straight A’s in the June 2008 AS examination after only 5 months of preparation.

Yeo Jun Hau is currently reading Actuarial Science at Heriot-Watt University in the United Kingdom. Jun Hau shared on his studying experience in the Sunway A-Level programme, “My time in Sunway was the time of my life. It was a big and happy family and every unit was helpful and caring. Effective ways of teaching and strong encouragements by the teachers led to our successes”
Nurul attributed “Both my parents are teachers. Whenever I felt down, I could count on them to be supportive and encouraging. My friends and I are close and we helped each other with exam preparation” Xinyan, who always had a strong interest in math said “The lecturers were very experienced and taught us well which helped a lot”. Nurul is hoping to study Accounting and Xinyan plans to do Actuarial Science.
