Sunway Provides Strong Foundation

Former A-level student at Sunway University College, Liana Mohd Nawi is among the three Malaysian students to graduate with first-class honours at the Lancaster University Management School, UK recently.
Liana, now 21, who hails from Bukit Jelutong Shah Alam, joined Sunway in January 2004 to do her Cambridge GCE A-levels programme then. She was conferred her BSc (Hons) in Accounting and Finance by Lancaster University’s Chancellor, Sir Christian Bonington, CBE at a colourful ceremony held in July 2008.
Liana was actively involved in various activities as well as taking up a top management role in the Malaysian Students Society while studying for her degree at Lancaster University. Liana felt that the opportunity to forge strong friendships was one of the highlights of her study stint at Lancaster.
Lancaster Management School Dean Professor Sue Cox said that the university was delighted with the results of students from Malaysia. “These are really excellent performances and a reward for all their hard work. The skills they have developed will be very much in demand as they progress through their careers. Malaysian students have an excellent track record in Lancaster University Management School and these three First Class Honours graduates have continued this tradition,” she said.
Sunway University College signed an affiliation agreement with Lancaster University in 2006 which provides for the validation of all Sunway University College degrees by the Senate of Lancaster University. Since then, Sunway has developed and is offering honours degree programmes in Business Management, Business Studies, Information Systems, Information Technology, Multimedia Systems, International Hospitality Management, International Tourism Management, Psychology, and with the latest addition, in Accounting and Finance.
