That Top of the World Feeling Again for MUFY Sunway University College

At the recent Graduation Night last month, Monash University Foundation Year (MUFY) Sunway University College was tops in the world again as it clinched the Monash Top Scorer Award. The award has been won by a MUFY Sunway University College student on all occasions each time it was offered. This is the fifth time that a student of MUFY Sunway University College has won this. The coveted award went to Cheng Yuan Xiang. Cheng was also given the MUFY Excellence Award during the Graduation Dinner.

That Top of the World Feeling Again for MUFY Sunway University College

The Monash Top Scorer is a student who achieves the highest total score among all the providers of the MUFY Programme worldwide at campuses in Sunway University College Kuala Lumpur, Sunway College Johor Bahru, Taylors College Melbourne, Taylors College Perth, Vientiane College Laos and MUFY Jakarta.

For his amazing effort, Cheng was also awarded a 100% scholarship to further his studies at Monash University, Malaysia. Cheng has decided to pursue a degree in Business/Commerce majoring in Accounting & Finance and hopes to become an Accountant. Fifteen (15) other MUFY Sunway University College graduates were also offered scholarships at Monash University, Malaysia.

In addition to this feat, MUFY Sunway University College also swept five out of the nine Monash Subject Awards in Accounting, Computer Science, Economics, English and Physics. The Monash Subject Awards are presented to the students who score the highest marks in each subject among all the MUFY providers worldwide. Cheng Yuan Xiang again proved his academic might by topping the world in Accounting, Economics and English. Joanna Khoo Sook Wing was tops in Computer Science and Cheong Tien Ming won the award for Physics.

Cheng Yuan Xian said “I am very honoured to be the Monash Top Scorer and I attribute this to God, my parents and the dedicated lecturers at MUFY Sunway University College who never cease to encourage and help students in all manner of ways”.

Ahmad Ikmal Omar bin Omar was given the MUFY Achievement Award for impressive academic achievement and for his significant contribution and leadership qualities demonstrated in his extra-curricular activities. Ahmad Ikmal Omar will be pursuing a degree in Economics and plans to own a music-related business someday.

One of the features of the MUFY Sunway University College programme is the preparation of students to be a part of the community. Among the activities carried out yearly is the “Sharity” Carnival – a day dedicated to the less fortunate and through which students must make all effort to raise funds for charitable organisations. During the event this year, MUFY Sunway University teamed up with the Students Services Department to raise a total of RM20,000, the surplus of which was donated to various charities. MUFY Sunway University College made a donation of RM7,000 to the Montfort Boys Town during the graduation dinner.
