The CIA workshops are offered in four parts, as follows:
Part 1: Internal Audit Basics
Part 2: Internal Audit Practice
Part 3: Internal Audit knowledge Elements
On passing all 3 parts of the CIA examination, a candidate needs to gain 24 months of internal auditing experience or its equivalent before he/she could practice as a CIA. Equivalent auditing experience relates to audit/assessment disciplines, including external auditing, quality assurance, compliance and internal control.
The candidate must hold a bachelor’s degree or its equivalent from an accredited university or college. Specific international professional qualifications such as the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA), the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales (ICAEW) and the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA) can be accepted as equivalent to a bachelor’s degree.
